Day 1, September 14
Left at 715am and arrived at exactly 2pm. Traffic all along 695 and 83 to Harrisburg. Stopped in Wilkes Barre for about 1/2 hour. 88 was easy... but long. Maybe it was the anticipation or arrival and counting the exits. The directions were easy. Arrived on time to check in. I was greeted by John, one of the owners. I followed him to the RV camp. I was impressed by the RV. John gave me some time to unload the truck (the dogs were running around to stretch their legs) and returned later on a ATV to give me a tour of the trails. Still overcast, about 62 with a bit of a drizzle. We put the dogs in the Rv and left for the tour. The dogs are gonna love this... the trails are fabulous.
After the tour I unpacked and moved the truck. Once settled, took the dogs for a trail run at about 4-430. Started on the nearest trail, Darcy's trail which leads right to Butternut Creek. Molly was swimming right away. Even Ben jumped in! These two were running everywhere they went, so happy. I don't think even about how tired I am. The rain became steady while we were out. Still beautiful out here though. Foggy, misty. I toweled them as much as I could to get them dry, I should have brought more towels as these aren't gonna dry fast enough.
I can deal with the rain easy and the dogs don't mind at all, but a few clear days would be nice.
For dinner not all that hungry... but I eat chicken soup. Fed the dogs. We are just hanging out in the RV and it is now pouring out there. Saw folks come in with 2 tri-color borders and an aussie mix. Made my way over to the Pavilion to say hello as they started to prep their dinner. J and Kristina from Ithaca. The dogs were names Nara, Lars and Asha. For the most part all the dogs got along fine. J and K were really down to earth and quite funny. The 5 dogs were running around in the pouring rain in the dark as we humans stayed dry under the pavilion. I bid them good night as they sat for their meal. 9pm.
The temps in the RV are pretty comfy. I thought I would need the heater. The dogs are wiped out. I can touch Molly's feet and she doesn't even care. Ready to sleep. Early for me, 10pm. What a long day but great day. Happy to be here.
