Day 4, September 17

Ben still has the limp from yesterday. Doesn't stop him from the want to venture out. He did gallop down a few trails with Molly. Out and about you wouldn't even know his leg was hurting. it's on the way back or in the RV that he looks really hurt.

Out at 7 or 8 with the dogs for the morning walk. Misty and dewy today. After we came back it poured. Molly and Ben fell asleep again as did I while listening to some native-american flute music. We all slept til about 11 and the rain had stopped.

Had lunch by noon before we went out. Spent a bit of time off Darcy's by the first beach. Ben seemed fine. We were there for 2 hours. On the way down is a section roped off because of a steep drop to the water. Molly's draw to water brought her over the edge this time, literally. With Ben eager to follow. I saw Molly disappear over the edge and by the time I peered over the cliff I saw her laying on her side, on the rocks. I almost freaked til I saw her shake it off and plop into the Creek for a swim. Ben is still trying to get down. I call him off and as I peer down through the trees at Molly I see her getting turned around by the current. I leashed Ben to a tree away from the edge and started down the cliff to the water calling out to Molly. I could hear her high pitch whine and the look in her eyes looked frantic. I went downstream so that she could swim diagonally back to me. She made it and was all crazy jumping all over me. if I go that way again, you can be sure that I will leash these guys until we pass it. I saw later that there was a beach just 20 more feet further down. She would have done okay.

Got them back to the RV and they were very tired. Getting ready to meet a rescue dog for a walk. At 230 the caretaker, came out with Rhodie. Rhodie immediately planted his butt and let me pet him and he snuggled right up next to me. We hit Darcy's trail and the dog beach. Rhodie jumped right in. He was a pretty one, silky hair. Too bad he was so camera shy but it was quite endearing. He was sniffing my nose and hair a lot. After a few more dips for him we moved on. Took the up trail to the fields. At Valley View I lay down in the grass and he lay down right next to me, plopping his head onto the crook of my arm and I was smitten. He was dozing as I gave him good belly rub. I wonder what the next dog will be like? The weather this afternoon was perfect. Warmest since arriving.

At 6 took my guys for the meadow walk after their dinner. Trying to get some of that good light. I will have to do a website. Had an early shower and prepped a nice dinner. Very relaxed. Body and mind. I love this place... being out here. Already trying to think when I can come back.
